A rough introduction is in order I reckon.
Everyone calls me Yusof and I'm an Electrical Engineer working in the service of the evil Australian resources industry. I'm one of the many cogs that make things work around here and keep things running the way they should. Well at least that's the objective most of the time.
My title is Electrical Eng, but as all engineers go in our industry, the requirement that we be flexible and multifaceted is near mandatory. In addition to the usual spec-ing of generators, motors and doing simple electronics, I do software, telemetry, networking, instrumentation, mechanical flow, hazard assessments and other stuff. If I have to, wiring, cutting, drilling, bending and other things are not outside my skills block. I am also a Dual Trade Apprentice (Electrotechnology + Instrumentation), so rest assured my field skills are decent.
I started this blog because I realized that most eng students repetitively ask me the same questions about simple engineering concepts on a daily basis. This blog serves to answer to questions, educate newbies and graduates about the broad work that engineers do and the various skills needed to competently engineer decently sized projects. Of course this blog is also Australian centric, although I believe that any Malaysian readers may get something out of it.
